Birthday Goodies: I'm a LUCKY GIRL

So, with the closing of November in a few days. I have decided it was time to get cracking on getting up the little haul I have been saving from my birthday!

Considering my birthday was November 7th, I am beyond overdue for this blog..so without further adue let's get into the basics.

For my birthday itself, considering it fell on a Sunday I decided I wanted to go down to Ramstein base. So Joe and I spent about half the day down there, having a nice dinner at Marconi Grill (which btw is the whitest Italian food chain possible...and that night we didn't even have Italian food...had a nice steak).
We did some light shopping, mostly just trying to see if there was anything worth my while to pick out additional to my birthday!
**I will have a few separate blog entries going into more detail of some of the products, swatches and what not**

From the Hubby:

I did get two major things I was lusting after for my bday from the hubby, the first being the entire collection of 80's Child Pigments from Glamour Doll Eyes (pics for swatches and a more in depth view of this collection will be on a future blog entry).

Photobucket
Considering both Joe and myself are children of the 80's it only seemed appropriate that I have this collection for my 28th birthday. Besides the fact that I have an extreme weak spot for Glamour Doll Eyes products, so with the twit pics Vee was putting up of these lovely shadows. I had them listed as my #1 birthday present. In all honesty if I had only received these shadows for my bday I would've been totally happy...though of course my hubby is awesome. And knows the way to my heart is to spoil me :)

I also recieved the 15 Ultra Shimmer Palette from Sedona Lace.
Photobucket
What really made me want this particular palette from Sedona Lace is the face that these shadows were shimmer based (also satin based) and that they came in such an array of some of my favorite colors to use.
Photobucket
I personally think brown eyed girls can pull off most colors, however Purples and Greens look amazing...and so do blues. Hence, after watching a video tutorial done by the lovely Vee, owner of Glamour Doll Eyes, I knew I just had to have it. I actually had this palette on a maybe wish list since I saw its release on Sedona Lace website. I just hadn't really seen it before (as no other major make up line that sells the premade make up palettes had this available).

I am very glad to have received it for my bday, I think it is a great addition to my personal collection. The price itself, before using the code that was being promoted at the time it was purchased, is a good deal, $14.95.

I have done a few looks in my everyday looks that use either entirely it or most of it, so I would recommend checking it out.

From My Parents:

My parents paid for my trip to the states last year, stating it was a birthday present for 2010. So I was totally content with receiving a card from them and a phone call. However, they were awesome to wire some money for both my birthday, Joe's birthday and our anniversary so that we could do what we wanted. So their money paid for our dinners out on our birthdays and I was able to get a new foundation and concealer that I had been eyeing. (No picture there, however I am still thankful for their gift).

From Cookie:

Now, I honestly didnt expect anything from any of my friends here in Germany. However, Cookie made sure to hook me up with some goodies!

Photobucket
The biggest surprise and that is what made me UBBER happy was the actual palettes in this present! Sleek Palettes!

It's funny, I had mentioned several times to Cookie that I really wanted to try their products out (from the first time she did a make over on me using her Bohemian Palette on me from a TwoSome Tuesday video).

I received both the Storm Palette
Photobucket
Which yes this palette had a little accident on the way to being shipped to Cookie, the mirror broke. Honestly it makes no difference to me, as I really don't use the mirrors provided in palettes anyways.
The colors in this palette are all very metallic, mostly satin/shimmer with about 3 matte eyeshadows. I think that this palette is great for doing smokey eyes or a neutral look.

I also received the Sunset Palette
Photobucket

Again another great palette which had a bit more of shimmer and satin based shadows with bright and very pigmented matte shadows. The color that of course draws anyone's eye when you first open the palette is the bright blue and orange. At first I was a little under certain of...however after playing with the palette a little bit. I think these are great choices to have with the rest of the rustic colors...which of course is great because rustic looks great on me!

Within the goodies included, some HIP lipgloss (which I had never used before), a glitter Eye Pencil from Pop (which is a UK brand) and the NYX cupcake lip balms.

Overall I felt very loved and very special that Cookie had thought of me on my special day.

From my Godsister & her hubby:

I didn't expect to received anything from any other family that hadnt asked me what I wanted for my bday, so boy was I surprised at what came in the mail! Mind you I didn't do a Mail Time video as this was a birthday present, and I knew I would be doing some sort of blogging about it anyways!

Photobucket
My Godsister made sure to cover all different choices of products, everything from a rose scented candle (which I burn in my room whenever I have a client over for a make over) to a ton of make up!

The item that catches my eye the most, as I do enjoy everything from her and her hubby, is the Stila Palette!

Photobucket
Photobucket
Another first for my collection a Stila Palette, I thought it was also unique because it was based off October's Breast Cancer Awareness (all the colors had names related to the idea). Besides the palette (if I'm not mistaken) some of the proceeds from the palette sale went to Breast Cancer Research.

I have heard mixed reviews about Stila products, so it is nice to have my own so that I can formulate my own opinion of it. I have used the palette once so far and so far so good!

From my Aunt:

My Aunt asked me what I wanted for my birthday so I kept my answer quite short, as she reminded me a few times that times were tough for her. Thus, I ended up with some comfy and very purple pjs and Mac Fluidline in DipDown (the brown Liner).

Photobucket
Photobucket

I know I know, I'm not suppose to give into the MAC thing...however I have been wanting for a long time a good brown cream liner. And I tried Mac's Fluidline when I first was introduced to make up from my roomie back in 2007, I gave it a go back then. And FAILED...however with alot more knowledge of make up and the proper application I figured it would be okay to try it again.

I'm not saying I will go back whole heartedly to purchasing MAC products, however the ban I have held on the company is slowly lifting. I'm not saying I will use my own personal money to buy the products, however if it's a gift....I can't really say no! LOL

**there are some other goodies that I received that will be in the next blog posting of my bday goodies. So keep an eye out for that**

Overall, I am very thankful and very lucky to have had such wonderful people give me such great gifts. I couldn't ask for anything more!!!!

XOXO

In The Kitchen: Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

Considering the fact that I tend to make this dish at least once every pay period for our house (every two weeks). I figured I would include the posting of this to my blog.

Homemade Spaghetti Sauce is recipe followed to an extent but has room for creative additions. Every time I actually make this sauce, whether it is meaty or not, I always end up tweaking the ingredients just slightly.

The most recent time I added more onions and garlic than usual, so I had to counter the acidic flavoring by sprinkling more brown sugar.

Funny, I never thought to do that when I originally started making this recipe until Joe had mentioned it to me (gotta love a man who knows a little something something in the kitchen)! Joe said the garlic and onion was overwhelming at times, that he could hardly taste the tomato. Besides it causing him alot of unnecessary heart burn and indigestion.
TOO much acid will cause these unfortunate and yucky feelings...hence why the brown sugar became a staple in my recipe.

What is great about sauces, is they are easy to make, always end up with more than you need, and they are great to freeze and use at another date.

When we do this sauce, I end up with enough to feed 2 adults, fill 2 decent size containers that could be eaten as lunch or dinner left overs, and (if its the non meaty version) enough to freeze for another 2 person course.

Photobucket

Now, when it comes to sauces everyone will have their own extra additions and tricks, and it will take several makings of the sauce to get it to where you like it. So far, I have enjoyed the sauces I have come up with.

If you want to know how I do my personal homemade Spaghetti Sauce then check on the video !

FOTD: Glamour Doll Eyes Using My Shadow Tower

Another day, Another opportunity to play in my Glamour Doll Eyes.

From previous posting I have mentioned about shadow towers, so you will know that I was lucky enough to be asked by the lovely Vee to make a shadow tower.

I chose some basic colors, Bare naked, Chocoholic and Fabulous!

So it would only be appropriate that I randomly rock my tower when I feel so inclined to. With the other week being my vacation (ie Birthdays and Anniversary week off together). Joe had decided we should go down to Trier (one of the oldest cities in Germany) and check out the hookah bars/lounge.

Yes, I do smoke hookah. Flavored tobacco is still just as bad as regular tobacco, but I figured how often do I get to say I went to a hookah bar/lounge in Germany. Thus, Friday night was our DATE NIGHT!

I figured what the hell, might as well rock some GDE's. Seriously even if I am having a bad day, I reach for my Glamour Doll Eyes and I instantly feel better!

Photobucket
I think Fabulous! makes an amazing Liner..especially for BROWN eyes!

Photobucket
If you have coordinating accessories it does really finish off the mostly neutral eye!

Photobucket
As you can see I applied Fabulous! wet to both the upper and lower lash lines. Making sure it was a winged look...a little tricky with a brush (at least for me).

Photobucket
I applied Bare Naked all over the lid wet and then blended Chocoholic into the crease. Bare Naked is a very pretty color dry, but wet it takes on this amazing metalic golden sheen. Then using Chocoholic, which is a pretty warm brown, to blend into Bare Naked. Pending on how heavy you apply Chocoholic, it can take on a warm metally brown to a deep Brown.

Photobucket
I could see why Joe at one point asked if I had on more shadows than just the aqua liner, as Bare Naked and Chocoholic seem so light compared to the brightness of the Fabulous! I just think that if you are going to have such dramatic liner, you want something softer on your lids.

Photobucket

I paired off the eyes with some strong pink lips, using my monthly favorite NYX LipLiner in Fuschia and topped it off with Glamour Gloss Scene Queen.

Overall, I enjoy rocking my tower when I'm feeling "lazy" but want a little bit of make up!

FOTD: Glamour Doll Eyes 80's Child

I actually did this look a few weekends ago (ie Halloween weekend) but with this week of my mini vacation. I got pretty lazy when it came to blogging, so I figured it was time to get cracking down on some of these Glamour Doll Eyes looks I have been hording! he he

I received my 80's Child Collection the week prior to Halloween and decided that it was time to play with the colors. Now, if you haven't checked out the 80's Child Collection from Glamour Doll Eyes, you are missing out on some amazing SHIMMER FILLED COLORED FUN! And considering that I was a child of the 80's (and these shadows are based off of some of mt favorite shows as a child. I had to get them for my birthday.)

I felt pretty feminine that day, I actually decided on my shirt and accessories before I did my make up (normally it's vice versa). So keeping the pink in mind and wanting to use the 80's Child Collection shadows I came up with this kinda fun and super easy look.

Not really certain what to call it, I asked Joe and he was at a lost! that NEVER happens! he he
Photobucket
Products used for this FOTD:
MAC Paint Pot in Soft Orche
MAC Fix + (to wet the shadows & make liner)
Glamour Doll Eyes 80's Child Shadow in Romper (all over lid)
Glamour Doll Eyes 80's Child Shadow in Berrywood (in crease)
Glamour Doll Eyes 80's Child Shadow in Shimmer (as highlight & inner tear duct)
Glamour Doll Eyes 80's Child Shadow in Vanity (as liner for top & Lower lash lines)
MAC Eye Kohl in Fascinating
Lancome Deficiles Mascara in Black
Photobucket

Going to post some pictures of the Eyes in particular, since it's all about the eyes in this look anyways! I know with such a bright liner, one would opt for false lashes. However I think this can be done as an everyday fun look!
Natural Light
Photobucket
Photobucket

I believe that blue shadows look really great with Brown eyes, it just seems to draw attention.
Photobucket
Photobucket
I didn't want to over do wing in this eye, just because then it would REQUIRE lashes in my opinion. So I kept it small (compared to how I normally do colored liner looks).
Photobucket
Photobucket
One thing I love about Glamour Doll Eyes shadows is the fact that they make such great eyeliners! Vanity is beautiful blue with silver sparkles, and when its applied wet it takes a neon blue that just really POPS!
With FLASH
Photobucket
Photobucket
Using Shimmer as a highlight and eye brightener in the inner tear duct (in my opinon) finishes off this look. It adds just enough shimmer and glitter to the eye, plus with its multi colored sparkles (yellow, red, blue, purple, pink) it was just perfect!

**For the rest of the face I paired it off with some light pink cheeks using my NYX Blush in Pinky and for lips I decided on a recent newest go to, NYX Lip Liner in Fuchsia topped off with Glamour Gloss in Scene Queen**

Overall, I really liked the combination of these shadows together! I hope to give myself some more time sometime soon and come up with another fun 80's Child FOTD!!

FOTD: Glamour Doll Eyes Greens

So another day, another FOTD!!!!

This week I have been off from work, celebrating my birthday/anniversary/husband's birthday week! Yes, we make it a week because my birthday is the 7th, anniversary the 9th, his birthday the 11th.
This year sadly we didn't have enough funds to go somewhere (last year we went to Amsterdam for three days...and boy was that a trip to remember. NOTE: DO NOT TRY CHINESE FOOD IN THE NETHERLANDS).

Since we were local, I decided to take a job doing make up and hair for another military spouse (she was attending her husband's graduation from leadership school. And wanted to get pampered. Now, sadly the hair thing didn't work out as well as I would've liked. Though I do think the make up I did was nice (sadly it didn't photograph well...looked so much nicer in person...hate it when that happens). So far I have made a small routine of making sure my own personal make up is pretty that day. I mean who would want their make up done by someone who isn't done up NICE themselves???!!!

So I reached for my favorite minerals, Glamour Doll Eyes.

Considering I decided on a very basic outfit to wear (black top and jeans, I wanted to have a pop of color). Thus, I thought it would be fun to play with some colors I don't use that often, GREENS! I have always heard that brown eyed girls can look great with most colors, I have been told by at least two make up artists to try Green.

Photobucket
So I decided, sure why not!!!!

Photobucket
Products used for this look:
MAC Soft Orche Paint Pot
MAC Fix + to apply the lid color
Glamour Doll Eyes Apple Martini shadow (all over lid)
Glamour Doll Eyes Olivia Green shadow (blended light into the crease)
Glamour Doll Eyes Urban Trash shadow (inner v and blended into crease)
80's Child Collection Jerrica shadow (highlight)
80's Child Collection Shimmer shadow (inner tear duct and highest point of brow)
P2 Liquid Eyeliner in black
Wet N Wild Cream liner in black (waterline)
CoverGirl Lash Blast Waterproof Mascara in Black
Photobucket

Photobucket
I did use a bit of Apple Martini, Olivia Green and Urban Trash on my lower lash line.

Photobucket

Using two different matte shadows in this eye is something I don't normally do. However I thought Olivia Green would be a good complementary color to go along with the shimmer in Apple Martini. Yet I wanted just a hint of black in the inner v to darken the look. It's very subtle and soft, I didn't want to take away from the greens.
Photobucket
Using some of the 80's Child Collection shadows has been a goal of mine. I received them earlier last month and have been so busy I really haven't given myself time to be creative. Figures that it comes out when I'm getting ready to go do someone else's make up! ha ha

**To finish off this look, I decided on peachy cheeks, using my Jordana blush in Coral Sandy Beach and for lips a pinky brown shade. I used NYX Lip Liner in Natural and NYX Girls Round Lipstick in Thalia, topping it off with a little bit of ELF's Super Shiny Lip Shine in New York ( a discontinued orangey/nude color). **

Overall, I thought this look was pretty and easy. I might (actually give myself time and recreate it for a tutorial).

Providence and Grace Mineral Make Up

I have the great pleasure to be doing a Review on a Online Mineral Make up Company, Providence and Grace.

I heard about this company via YouTube and went to their website, checked out the large variety of products they offered (you have anything from primers to lip scrubs also Perfumes). Of course the major bulk of their products are loose Mineral Eyeshadows.

I contacted the website to inquiry a bit more about the products, to see if I was eligible to do a review. As you all know, I truly love reviewing products. Especially when it comes to Mineral products (since I'm a converted Mineral shadow lover).

I exchanged a few emails back and forth with the lovely Jennifer Ray, and picked a handful of products to be able to review! I did look through all the various listed products attempting to pick out my favorites from the Providence and Grace line. I felt I had made some good choices.

The items were shipped out October 15th and arrived in my PO Box on October 21st, 6 days, coming all the way to GERMANY?! That is amazing speed! That is even faster than Express Mail I have received before (by one day)!
These items were packaged in a bubble envelope, and were safe and sound! :)

I overall chose a total of 7 items to review and received 6 of 7! Which really to receive even one item is grand, but to get 95% of the items I requested totally rocks! **Quick Shout out and Thank You to Jennifer for making this possible. I truly appreciate the opportunity**

So Let's get into the products that I will be testing out for the next month or so:
*denotes the products description on the website

Providence and Grace EyeShadow Primer

This item is interesting considering it's a water based Eyeshadow Primer.
Has no scent, clear liquid form (however it contains glycerin, which we all know is what is used throughout make up products). It is in a lipgloss tubing, with a doe foot applicator. I'm not going to lie, I'm interested to see if this EyePrimer holds up compared to my various other products.

This can be purchased for $5.99, currently on sale for $4.49 (as of December 26th)

**I did not take a picture of this item swatched on my skin, as it would look like water (which can be hard to photograph).

This picture is taken from the Providence and Grace website of what shadows look like swatched on top of the Primer that is available from the site.

*This is absolutely the best primer for all of your eyeshadows. This really increases your color payout! Once you use this you won't be able to live without it.

To use: Simply remove applicator from bottle and dab a small amount onto eyelid. Wait until it is almost dry and then apply your eyeshadow as usual. Alternately, dab a small amount of primer onto the back of your hand and use your eyeshadow brush to mix in a small amount of desired powder and apply as usual.

Providence and Grace LipStick in Bite

I had never seen a LipStick in the form of a chapstick (however I do believe it is a less expensive way to sell a product).
The color is a metallic wine, with soft gold undertones (at least on my olive skin). The formulation caught me off guard, it's quite thick (reminding me of a chapstick or lip balm), but having the color pay off of a lipstick. This had no taste, and only slightly stains the lips.

Borrowed Picture of Bite from Providence and Grace Website

This can be purchased for $5.99, currently on sale for $4.49 (as of December 26th)

*Bite is a deliciously deep red color. This lipstick glides over your lips smooth as silk. My special formula is loaded with great ingredients that soothe, moisturize, heal, and leave a protective weather barrier on your lips.

My lipsticks feel like a lip balm but have great coverage just like a lipstick. You will never have to put lip balm over or under your lipstick again! All my lipsticks are soft, smooth, and glide over your lips like silk. Your lips will not only have the perfect color, they will be immediately soothed and moisturized. My lipsticks aren’t heavy or waxy feeling; they are light and feel almost like you are wearing nothing at all. You can’t find a better combination than that!

Comes packaged in a lip balm style tube.

Providence and Grace Lip Glaze

<span class=Photobucket">

Queen is an interesting color...it is very similar to a deep wine or burgendy but has the metallic hint of copper or gold. Thus giving it more of a rust looking color swatched on my skin. Putting this color ontop of Bite lipstick really gives that ultra metal red lip...but worn on its own it is still quite pretty.

The texture itself isn't like any other lipgloss that I own, it's not at all sticky...it actually glides on your lips very easily. It does make me wonder if it will slip too much and get all over my lips (and more) if too much is applied.

<span class=Photobucket">

borrowed picture of Lip Glaze Queen from Providence and Grace Website

What I want to point out is the flavoring that I chose for this lip glaze was Mega Melon..which it literally tastes exactly like a Melon. Very sweet, it is very hard to not want to constantly lick my lips due to how much I enjoy the taste.

What is nice about the Providence and Grace lipglazes is you have your choice of what flavor that you want your glaze to come in. They have a total of 25 different flavors to choose from, anything from a wonderful fruity flavor (ie Peach) to a sweet and mixed flavor (ie Pumpkin Cheesecake). So for all those lipgloss junkies who prefer flavored gloss you are definitely going to be pleased with these glazes!

This can be purchased for $5.99, but is currently on sale for $4.49 (as of Dec 26th)

*Queen Lip Glaze is a beautiful dark red colored lip gloss. This coats your lips with the perfect amount of color to accentuate your already beautiful lips and adds a huge dose of shine! Beautiful miniature golden flakes will adorn your lips.

Providence and Grace Eyeshadows

<span class=Photobucket">

I chose three different shadows to review from the website, which is broken down into sub categories depending on what color shadows you are most interested in trying out. There are a total of 101 different shadows available on the Providence and Grace website, the most shadows being in the Pinks and Brown sections.

What also makes the website easy, especially if you are new to the brand is checking out the side bar that has the Top 9 popular products, 8 being eyeshadows and 1 being a lip glaze. It actually works out to where one of the shadows that I will be reviewing is in the Top 9 popular products...and that honestly wasn't on purpose (just a fluke...but I suppose it works out to my benefit).

Shadows can be purchased from the website in a couple different forms, the one I am listing for price and what most purchase are the basic 5 gram jars (come with shifters). With shifters placed in jars, you won't get a full 5 grams of product..more than likely 2 to 2.5 grams of product (but do not quote me on this, as I have not asked).

If you do want to try out the products (as some people want to get a feel for the products) they are also available in sample sizes. The sample sizes come in a "small clamshell container", though I am uncertain of the amount of product you receive in it.

**Please not that Providence and Grace offer Stakers of eyeshadows available in 3,5, or 7 high. This will allow the make up lover (aka addict) to pick and choose their favorite colors and get a discount on the price. Plus the fact they are in an easy to carry and travel with, as all your eyeshadows are in one place is a huge perk. Please refer to the website for more prices and information.**

I want to point out that I received 2 shadows in the sample size and 1 full sized of the shadows (the full sized one is Baby).

In regards to the swatches they were done on top of the Providence and Grace Eyeshadow Primer that I received for this review

Providence and Grace Shadow in Antique Copper

<span class=Photobucket">

Antique Copper-Satin bronzey Copper with golden shimmer.

<span class=Photobucket">

This color is very very pretty, I can see why it is rated #8 most popular product from the website as it is just perfect. Not too deep of a brown, but not too much metallic so that it can be overwhelming or too much for a basic every day look.

This could be a great crease color or a lid color, possibly a pretty nail polish as well. The reason why I chose this color is I thought it would be a good color to use to create a pretty neutral or pin up look.

This can be purchased for $3.99, but is currently on sale for $2.99 (as of Dec 26th) full size

or

This can be purchased for $.99, but is currently on sale for $.74 (as of Dec 26th) sample size

*Antique Copper is a beautiful brown copper color with a touch of sheen. This can be worn by itself or as a highlight to other eyeshadows. It can also be used as eyeliner if applied with a brush. This is a highly pigmented eyeshadow so a little bit goes a really long way.

Providence and Grace Shadow in Baby
Photobucket

Baby-satin feel shadow in a Taupey Pinky/Brown color with a hint of shimmer

Photobucket

This color is interesting because it is a combination of a pink and brown (exactly to a tee..in my opinion). The shadow for sure has a satin feel to it and is very very easy to apply, as Cookie would say "It glides on and blends out like BUTTER". Applied dry the color is pretty, I don't doubt wet it would be very nice too. I could see it taking on more of the pinky color (pending too on what base it is put over).

I think this would make a very pretty lid color, perhaps a highlight color (pending on the look it is being used for). As well as it could be used as a blush on certain skin tones (keeping in mind they don't mind having a hint of shimmer in the blush).

This can be purchased for $3.99, but is on sale for $2.99 (as of Dec 26th)
or
This can be purchased for $.99, but is currently on sale for $.74 (as of Dec 26th) sample size

*Baby is a gorgeous brownish pink color. This can be worn by itself or as a highlight to other eyeshadows. It can also be used as eyeliner if applied with a brush. This is a highly pigmented eyeshadow so a little bit goes a really long way.

Providence and Grace Shadow in Shine
Photobucket

Shine-Frosty Pearl White with reflects of Aqua, Pink and Green

Photobucket

Shine is a beautiful sparkley white that takes on almost a pinkish hue on my skin (perhaps its the undertone mixed with my skin type). No matter the case, I think this color is by far my favorite of the three that I chose from Providence and Grace. This is just swatched one time on my hand, dry with a easy primer...can you imagine what it would look like WET? I can't wait to try!

I think Shine would make a great highlight color, inner tear duct and possibly pending on the look really pretty as a lid color. I could even see if this is applied very very lightly as a cheek highlight on the face! Also just a small dab on the lower lip on top of a pretty lipgloss would give the lovely POP and add a little texture to the lip color.

This can be purchased for $3.99, but is on sale for $2.99 (as of Dec 26th)
or
This can be purchased for $.99, but is currently on sale for $.74 (as of Dec 26th) sample size

*Shine is a gorgeous shimmery white color. This is perfect to highlight the inner eye, browbone, or to use as a base color. This will brighten any eyeshadow applied on top of it and will make blending easier.

**So far I have used all of the products and I am quite happy with the pigmentation and overall effect they each individually have. Though I do plan to keep them used more so together as when I chose the products to review...I had a certain look in mind.

I will have a official review of the line on my Youtube channel within the month of January as well as the particular look (in tutorial form) available on my page as well.

For now, I'm quite impressed and pleased with Providence and Grace.

XOXO
