Updates/ Addendum to my Posts on Luminessair Every Day Make Up Kit

Photobucket

I just wanted to note  a few things on this blog post that I did receive some clarification on (as I want to make sure I am sharing all proper facts and information with anyone who happens to read this blog).

  • I had emailed the lovely Emily at Luminessair to find out the reasoning for the logo being a butterfly and she shared the following information with me.  "To answer your question about our logo, the reason the butterfly is our company logo is for multiple reasons :) The first is because the butterfly signifies the metamorphosis and the transformation of an individual who uses our product to Achieve a flawless look. The butterfly is also considered a sign of good luck in many cultures and takes flight through the "Air"."

  •  I also did need to clarify that I was mistaken in my initial blog posting and haul video that is found on my YouTube channel about where Luminessair can send packages to. In both my blog and in my video I stated they were unable to send to my PO box because they could not send mail internationally. However that is not the case, Emily did let me know the following, " I did notice that you mentioned that we do not ship outside the U.S. and we actually do, but since we use FedEx we can not send to PO Boxes or APO addresses."  I did want everyone to know this information, as I want to be honest and through with any products that I receive for review purposes.

  • Finally, I wanted to also point out that Emily does keep tabs on all blog posts, videos that are done by those who are reviewing the products of Luminessair as in my most recent email exchange with her she did comment, "I did notice that you prefer a more matte finish, and I would recommend setting your Luminess look with a translucent powder to finish off your look. :)". I am quite appreciative of the great tip that was not pointed out in the actual video guide (supplied with the kit). Thank you very much Emily, plus it let's me know that Luminessair (especially Emily) really make sure their customers (or reviewers in my case) are satisfied

I am again just sharing this information because I feel the need to make sure I am telling everyone the whole truth and nothing but the truth!!!

Review to be up this week of Luminess!!!

FOTD and Demo of using the Luminessair EveryDay Beauty Kit

If you have been watching my Tweet feed, you know I have been rambling on about the Air Brush make up Kit that I received from LuminessAir recently (as I'm throughly trying to review the kit by the beginning of this weekend).

Thus today I sat down and filmed a Demo of using the products (keeping this in mind, I am by NO MEANS a Professional when it comes it Air Brush Make Up Application). I believe that I will need more practice on myself and major practice on a few faces to get a better feel and hang for Air Brushing.

So my FOTD is really an Air Brush FOTD....each picture is taken by the different levels of make up applied

Clean Face NO MAKEUP
Pretty scary!
As you can see from the picture I do suffer from some red spots (regiments of some pimples), a few small scars from some cyst acne, and darker circles under my eyes (damn me for staying up late blogging!!).

  • First step was to apply the Primer and Moisturizer with the Air Brush Gun. I used a total of 2 drops of product
  • Next Conceal any problem spots using my Shade 2 (which is the lighter shade of the two that I received in my kit). I used a total of 4 drops for this and made sure to conceal all my red spots and under my eyes
Concealed as best I could

  • Next the foundation application process, for this I used the foundation 3 in Golden Beige and placed 6 drops into my air brush gun. For applying the product I started off on the right side of my face and worked around (using the swirl motion as I applied). I do want to point out that I was able to go over my face a total of two times throughly doing so. That after I had finished one side of my face and moved on to the next, it had given the original side I started on enough time to dry.
  • When I had filmed I showed myself only applying a total of 2 layers, however I did end up doing a total of 3 layers of foundation as I wanted a definite medium coverage of my skin. With my next application I only added another two drops to the air gun, so I used a total of 8 drops for my foundation.
face now fully covered

  • Next I applied Blush to the apples of my cheeks, I used a total of 3 drops in the air brush gun. The blush color itself is a matt pinky peach, so if applied properly it gives a nice flush of color.
  • I opted not to apply bronzer as I noticed the bronzer I had did seem to have some shimmer in it, considering I was planning on using the Highlighting glow as well. I decided I didn't want to over do the shine on my face (I didn't want to look like a grease ball later).
Yup I'm wearing Blush

Better angle...see the soft pink!!!

  • Lastly I applied the Brightening Glow as a highlight (thus giving a dewy, glow to my face). I'm not necessarily sure if I like the Glow as after wearing for some time I notice I look more oily. I think it's just because I'm not use to the Dewy look. I applied 2 drops of the product into the air brush gun and applied it on the tops of my cheeks (above the blush), slightly on my forehead and down my nose, above my cupids bow and chin.
A finished Air Brushed face!!!

  • To finish off the look I brushed throw my brows, applied a colored mascara and a bit of gloss and was ready to go do my errands for the day!
Closer view of the face....I know I look kinda pale!

Overall not a bad look!! (without mascara or gloss)

Initial Thoughts about Luminessair and Air Brush Make Up

So far this weekend and into this week I have been testing out my Luminessair Everyday Make up Air Brushing kit...just so that I can get a good idea of the capabilities of the products and the system itself. **I will be posting my thoughts on the How to use your Kit videos shortly**

There are some things I would like to note before I post my pictures of wearing the products from Luminessair.

  • I have combination skin but more dry tenancies. However I do randomly break out with cyst acne (thus I do have some scarring)
  • I have larger pores (I am not a fan!!)
  • I am in between colors (my summer tan is fading)
  • The weather recently has been in the low 70's but with a humidity between 50 to 80% (this is the type of weather I'm combating with at the moment).
  • I am of Hispanic heritage...so I'm olive skin tone, dark haired (and yes I do have some body hair..fuzzy).

Friday 1st time using the Luminessair Kit

Products used

Luminessair Bronzer in P3 (used on cheeks and temples, under blush) 2x
Luminessair Brighten Glow in G1 (used as highlight above blush and down nose) 2x

As you can tell this is a very light coverage, it reminds me of when I put a bit of concealer on and some pressed powder on top and head out to run errands real quick. This type of coverage is good for something quick and easy (it took me about 5 minutes from start to finish), however I do personally prefer more of a full coverage.

The one thing I do want to point out is when it came to concealing my problem areas, I only saw a slight change in the color of the circles/bags I get under my eyes. As well as it just lightened my trouble spots on my chin and the top of my nose (yeah...it's bruised...don't ask).

Sadly, after about 3 hours of wearing this make up, perhaps it was due to the weather. It pretty much looked like I had nothing on (which I know is the whole point of Air Brush make up). However I was super shiny and I had to touch up with a pressed powder because I felt like my face was glowing. Perhaps I'm just not use to the dewy look on me (as again I prefer a matte finish to my skin).

Saturday 2nd time using the kit

Products used:
Luminessair Moisturizer and Primer in M1 (all over face and neck) 2x
Luminessair Foundation in Shade 2 (used as concealer all on problem areas) 3x
Luminessair Brighten Glow in G1 (used as highlight and down nose) 2x*
Luminessair Blush in 3n (used over cheeks) 2x*
Luminessair Foundation in Shade 3 Golden Beige (used all over face and neck layered) 4x

* indicates these were applied before the normal foundation. This was demonstrated on the video, thus I wanted to try this technique out.

Better look of the face

Can see the cheek coloring better

Also I did attempt to use the eyeshadows that came with my kit..however that didnt work out so well for me!!! Totally need to work on this...it's just a yucky mess!

Photobucket
Shadows used is Duo in Shade 4 and 28

I did notice using the Primer did make the products last longer on my face, to where I didn't have the shiny look until about 4.5 hours into wearing it. This too was on an extremely humid day (75%) and I was doing make up on a client...so I was under a bit of pressure to get what I could done, efficiently and quickly!

I will also note that putting the Highlighter and the Blush before the final layers of foundation was something different, however I kinda liked it. I noticed when I had done the opposite (as what you would do when applying make up with brushes), the pores on my cheeks really stuck out!

Huge point!!! Layering the foundation does make a difference in the amount of coverage my skin had...it looked more like what I prefer (where, yes you can tell I do have make up on). However, again the issue I had with my make up (later on in the day) was the dewy look..I'm thinking I'm going to try to do this look again (minus the Golden Highlighter) and see if that is the big culprit. As when I start to get shiny or dewy, my pores look HUGE!!!

I'm hoping that the weather will change a bit so that I can see what the make up acts like in cooler and less humid air..because I think this is also a big culprit in why I am looking so shiny so quick in the day.

Somethings I want to also bring up

  • The Luminessair Sprayer itself is pretty easy to use, the only issue I had was that if I put too much product in the cap (8 drops) then when I would swirl the sprayer around I accidently split some of the product.
  • I did NOT have any issues with the Air Brush make up getting in my hair (whether it was on top of my head, brows or eyelashes).
  • My skin did dry quickly between layers of the foundations. Average wait time I had between layers was about a minute
  • The makeup does have a semi odd feeling after having been worn for a few hours (especially if I get hot and start to sweat a bit). It's like I can feel my pores have stuff in them (if that makes any sense).
  • Even with applying the concealer and foundation on my eyelids before my normal eye primers, I have NOT seen any change in my eyeshadows (minerals) wearability.

I am going to continue to use these products for the rest of the week, and hopefully have a full review by Friday!!!

Luminessair Every Day Beauty System

Photobucket
Package that I received

****PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, I DID RECEIVE THIS PRODUCT FOR REVIEW PURPOSES (SO YES I DID GET IT FOR FREE. HOWEVER ALL OPINIONS, THOUGHTS ARE 100 % HONEST***

So like many freelance make up artists I slowly and surely work on keeping my Make up Kit updated with newest products while keeping in mind the fashion/beauty trends. One particular trend that I have researched on various make up related threads (Youtube, Make Up Alley, Forums on Model Mayhem, etc) is the ever growing interest of the everyday person into Air Brush Make Up.

Considering I am by no means a professional, I believe it would be of interest to myself to find out from personal experience the pros and cons to having/using  Air Brush Makeup.

After spending a few hours watching/reading reviews on various systems, I felt one in particular stood on int mind....Luminessair

Checking out their website, one can easily be directed to the right section of Air Brush Make up. After poking around, seeing what was offered. I decided to email the PR section and inquiry in regards to Review the system (yes, I did ask....figure why the heck not...worse thing they can do was say no).

I contacted Luminessair on 7/14 and received a response from Emily (Relations Advocate) on 7/15, letting me know I was eligible to review the product. Keep in mind that as part of my requirement for being able to review this product is I must do a review of the system within 2 week after receiving the system (so for anyone else who is thinking about reviewing this product....don't forget to follow the rules. As it is the right thing to do, plus it keeps good relations with beauty companies.)

I did sadly find out on 7/19 that Luminessair would be unable to send me the package, due to the fact they can not ship to APOs/FPOs (these are military PO Box for when stationed internationally). However, I was not going to let that stand in my way...I asked Emily if it were possible for it to the item to be sent to a stateside address (ie my parents) to which they would and could ship it to me. Luckily Emily said that was a great idea, and informed me that the Air Brush Kit would be shipped shortly to the address I had given her.

I was informed by my mother that she received the Luminessair package rather quick (after I informed her of what was going on), she said it arrived somewhere between 7/23 (Saturday) or 7/25 (Monday). Anyways long story short I found my Luminessair package in my mail box here in germany on 8/10, and I tell you what I was so excited!!!

Cute Card that Emily included in my package

I want to point out that Emily, does a great job at being the Relations Advocate for Luminessair. Not only is she through with answering all questions, but she get backs to any emails right away. She is a definite asset to the company (and I do hope they recognize and appreciate all that she does.) She made my package that much more personal by including a handwritten note in my card.

Customer service: Grade A

Also keep in mind LuminessAir key icon is the butterfly.
I do like the fact they continue to repeat this throughout their entire packaging.

Looking at the website the actual duo is called Ore, a great pair for a simple neutral eye. This duo retails for $32.00 (before shipping and handling). There is also a listed price for those who are part of the Make up Club for Luminessair.

Overall Thoughts so far:

I am thoroughly intrigued and excited to try out this system. I plan over the next day or so to watch the dvd and post about my overall thoughts of how well the videos explain how to use the system. As I stated in my haul video, one thing about informative DVD's is that you end up having to watch a video anywhere from 3 to 5 times to make sure you understand and really get how to do something.

I should also be doing a video of me demonstrating how I use the product before giving a final review. No lies, I'm a bit leery about trying out the eyeshadows...but I know it will be better for me. As both a beauty consumer as well as a freelance make up artist to try out different products.

Keep an eye out for more to come!!!
