Yup, Make Up Project Update again!!!

Just wanted to quickly let ya guys know that I finally finished my ELF Liquid Lipstick in Baby Lips today!!!!

No lies I am ubber excited to have actually finished a lip product to entirety!!! I have actually never accomplished this feat before...and it is a feat considering how many lip products I do have now in my extensive collection.

Thank Goodness I am really sticking to this project, I think I might actually get through more of my products this way.

Now as it worked out, I did allow myself the luxury of ordering a new lip product...when I receive it in the mail I will be for sure making a small post on it with swatches as well.

But I did want to show you some physical evidence that my lipstick is done!!! So here we go!!!
Photobucket
Yup, totally holding up my empty for everyone to see!!!

Comparing a full ELF Liquid Lipstick to an Empty

Top: ELF's Cherry Tart Liquid Lipstick
Bottom: ELF's Baby Lips Liquid Lipstick

Although I have ordered a new lip product, I have decided to make my new product to use up from my lip collection the Cherry Tart Lipstick from ELF...as I believe it will take me about a month to use it up. Plus I have been wearing complementary colors on my lips the past week, so I figure I can just keep doing so.

**I hope anyone else who is doing the Finish what You Started Make up Project is doing alright. I'm nearly done with my foundation and I have finally hit pan on my drug store concealer.I'm just waiting now to see how long it takes me....as I started this project whole heartedly about a month ago.**

I will again update when I am closer to finishing off a product again...I'm thinking it will be my foundation that will finish off next over my lip products...unless of course I keep my lips moisturized with this winter weather!!!

More Goodies to Add to the Blog Sale

Looking through my stuff some more...I thought I could add a few things to what I currently have on sale.

I'm hoping that these products will sell as they are just taking up room in my cabinet..since I have them separate from my current collection.

So without further adue let's get into what is up for grabs. Now the biggest thing with this blog sale is it's first come, first paid...gets the items!
I will be doing all my transactions through PayPal, please keep this in mind when looking through the items listed. I will ship the following day the transaction has been processed and the funds are available in my PayPal account.
Pay Pal Account Email all Payments made to:
Laronacasino@yahoo.com
*I will also send an email invoice of payment owed so that you know the exact amount*

Shipping & Handling prices
I am going to keep this fair, as I know that it doesn't cost entirely too much to send products within the states. (Most blog sales make a good amount of product off of shipping) For the initial first item the charge is $2.00 and any addition item is $.50.
**Now say you get enough items where they can fit into a flat rate box (which can cheaper & faster since it's priority). I will suggest that to you, because I do want to be fair!

Any questions, please leave them in the comment section below! And so Let's get to seeing the goodies!!!

FOTD: Using Sedona Lace 15 Ultra Shimmer Palette

As you know I picked out the Sedona Lace 15 Ultra Shimmer Palette for my birthday, as I LOVE purples, blues and greens...especially shimmery eyeshadows.

Photobucket

No Lies, I'm damn happy that I decided to choose this palette for a present, as this palette is just to die for...and you can seriously just go hog wild with the different colors...especially if you like blues...no lies there are about 7 different hues of blues in this palette. Wow...I'm not at all tired while blogging about my palette!!! ha ha ha

Anyways so I have dug into the palette, and in a different post I will do swatches of the different colors so that anyone who hasn't seen it can get a better idea of the loveliness that it is! But let me get to the FOTD. I have done this looks twice so far and always get a compliment that day about how pretty the colors are.

No Flash
Photobucket

Photobucket
I used a mixture of the darker purple on the first 1/3 of my lid, followed by a light grey on the 2nd 1/3 and then the bright blue on the last 1/3 and blended that blue up into the crease. For a highlight I used Mac's Vanilla.
Photobucket

Photobucket
Looking at the picture the middle grey shadow looks more blue...I think it is due to all the shimmer that is in the shadows. No matter what the case maybe, I think the colors are so vibrant!
Photobucket

for the rest of the face I used Mac's Coy Girl on the cheeks, though I opted for no highlight on the cheeks considering I wanted the man focus to be on the shimmer on the eyes. And for Lips I have just been in love with my NYX Fuschia Lipliner and Glamour Gloss in Scene Queen.

Photobucket
You can actually tell better in this picture, but for the lower lash line I used on the outside half the darkest green shadow, and on the inner half I used the lightest green shadow.

Flash
Photobucket

Photobucket

I will comment this much, when the flash is used, the shadows especially the grey and the blue do look pretty similar...however in person you can actually tell there were different colors.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Overall, I think this is a fun look, I was a bit inspired from the Lovely Vee, yes Miss Glamour Doll Eyes herself, to create this look. After seeing her tutorial using this palette, the video pretty much sold me on getting it.
And NO LIES....so glad I did!

FOTD: Kat Von D Tattoo Chronicles Palette

Another day, Another FOTD!

Since I got an amazing present from an amazing two lovelies, Lorris and her hubbers Eric. I decided it was time to bust out the goodies that they had sent me!

I do need to include a picture of the full birthday presents from them, besides do swatches of the colors from both palettes that I received! I know I know, I'm ubber behind!

So without further due I will get into what I used to achieve this lovely look. I used the Skin Primer from the Chronicles Tattoo Palette, which is what I used. BTW, Lorris and Eric sent me both the Tattoo Eyeshadow Palette as well as the Lipstick Palette (yes I will do swatches of the lipsticks as well). I promise things will get back to how they use to on the blog...it's just harder to get focused on what I want to post considering there are so many different things I can do! UGH! ha ha okay before I get distracted!
Photobucket
I am just using this picture so that everyone has a better idea of what this palette looks like. I will include pictures of my own when I have some more time.

Photobucket
Shadows used:
Hollywood on lid
Tijuana in crease
Peanut as highlight
Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I used Revlon's ColorStay Black Marker for the top last line...which btw I'm really not a fan of. I was waiting for a my go to liquid eyeliner that a different lovely was so kind enough to send me. Please refer to different post that will be up soon! And used Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Pencil in Zero for the waterline, having dragged a bit of Tijuana on the lower lash line.

Photobucket

Photobucket
To Finish off the face I used MAC's Plum Foolery blush with a tad of Hard Candy's Baked Blush in Pin Up as my highlight. Lips I used my trusty Maybelline Moisture Lip Liner in 60 Wine, as I think that during the winter...wine colored lips will be my signature look. As Cookie pointed out that Gaga was my signature look during the spring/summer!Elf Essential Lipstick in Voodoo has been the Go To lipstick followed by a bit of Elf Studio Minty Lipgloss in San Diego, one because San Diego is my hometown and I need to represent. And two because I love the way it tingles on my lips...which is always nice feeling. Plus it adds just a bit of shine besides sparkle!

Photobucket
I do dig this look, something with Gold and having brown eyes that I think look really good. Although I don't doubt this look could be great on anyone!

I need to play with this palette more and see what fun looks I can come up with...but for now...I can say a few things. One the eyeshadows are quite pigmented, two the primer is interesting I think I want to try some other shadows using it, three there are quite a few looks I can do with the palette!

My Interview & Trial Run as a Make Up Artist

So yesterday was one of my longest days ever!

Not only did I have to work at my normal job at the gift shop, but afterwards I had my trial test run at a local photo shoot.

Now, I did do this trial run for free with the compensation of some shots that could be used for my portfolio. There actually quite a few more than the ones I am going to be posting on this blog, however I am waiting for the photographer to re-go through the pictures and send me any others.

My overall thoughts about the shoot, I had a really good time, though it was really long. I ended up helping out the model and picking her up, because she was literally in the town next to the base (which is where I was leaving from to head to the shoot). And then I dropped her off, which prolly explains why I was there so long. Though I wanted to see the photographer at work, and I ended up putting a little imput here and there for what the model could do. Suggested a set up here and there..and luckily the photographer was pretty easy going, liked the suggestions and went along with it.

I only did two actual make up looks on the model, the first was a "safe" look. I was ubber nervous and I was worried that the model wouldn't like my style. Plus I wanted to kinda show the photographer that I could do simple, yet visible enough for print (ie catalog). Considering the model had opted for a coral and black scarf, layered tank tops of black and coral and dark jeans..i wanted it to be more casual.
Photobucket
Makeup for this look
Face:
Revlon PhotoReady Foundation mixture of 001 and 006
Wet N Wild Concealer Stick in 02 Medium
ELF Studio HD Loose Powder
ELF Essential Bronzer in Sun Kissed for contour
ELF Studio Duo Bronzer/Blush...blush for apples of cheeks
Revlon ColorStay Mineral Finishing Powder in SunKiss as highlight

Photobucket
Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Wet N Wild Color Icon Vanity Palette
Manhattan Eye Pencil in Dark Brown (this brand only found here in Germany and for how creamy this pencil was it reminded me of MAC Eye Kohl) upper lash line
Maybelline The Great Lash Mascara in Dark Brown

Lips:
Original Bistix Chapstick to moisturize
NYX Girls Round Lipstick in Orange Soda

Photobucket

I state this as my "safe" look because I was trying to warm myself up. I seriously was so nervous, I would end up holding my breathe when I was working on the model, I was worried about breathing on her...but I made sure that if I had to. I would smell like minty gum! ha ha, I loved watching videos of what to keep in a makeup kit, cause I learned that was one of the big things to have (besides mints).

The next make up look was more my thing anyways, as you all know I love color..especially satin, frost and shimmer eyeshadows. Considering I switched over my Coastal Scents Palettes into my kit (both my 88 Shimmer Palette and my Creative Me #1 Palette) I decided to play with color.

Photobucket
For face makeup I only changed one thing:
Wet N Wild Color Icon Blush in Berry Shimmer was the blush I switched to

Photobucket
Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Coastal Scents 88 Shimmer Palette
P2 Eyeliner in Black Upper lash line
Wet N Wild Cream Eyeliner in Black for waterline
Maybelline The Voluminous Falsies Mascara in Black

Lips:
NYX LipLiner in Fuschia
Clear Lipgloss from KiK just for some shine

Photobucket
I went for a slight tapered look for the eyes, the model was a mix of Filipina and German. I really wanted to capture her exotic dual nature. Plus when the model and I were headed downstairs which we were using for changing area (both of her clothes and her make up). The photographer asked me if that was basic make up (from the first set), I commented yes and so he told me he wanted some color.
Once I was done with the model's makeup, well predominantly done with it (minus applying the black mascara), I let her sneek a peak at herself. She got a huge smile on her face and was so excited about the colors. I think she was a bit worried, cause I had stated I was going for a 80's colors inspired look.

However the photographer was extremely happy with the choices I had made! Woot to that!

Photobucket

The next section of pictures are actual photo shots that I suggested the model pose as or suggested to the photographer to set up for.

Photobucket
Models bring their own accessories, clothes, etc to the photoshoot and I noticed she had this cute rosary. I thought it would be interesting to have it on her, considering her make up was so bright, her outfit (which you cant see in this pic) was semi provocative (gray cheetah print leggings, tight black shirt and bright blue heels).

Photobucket
I recommended to the model to try this pose, besides her hair in the pigtails. She originally had it set in a ponytail ontop of her head and as I thought it was cute. I thought the pigtails would really cute, plus as soon as I helped her with her hair. The photographer liked the change and she ended up working the pigtails.

Photobucket
This is my favorite shot of the night, and actually this is what I suggested and actually set up. Originally the photographer had her seated long ways on the couch with her heels just hanging slightly off of the couch. That was the only pop of color that was present besides her make up. So I went downstairs to grab the lipstick to touch up her lips...and the idea came to me.

Make her like she is at home in her room just doing her own thing. Since she had tons of bright colored clothes, I grabbed them all, her backpack, cell phone, the photographers laptop and just kinda threw them around her and told her to sit in the middle of the couch. Not only does it add a bunch of color but I think it's a really fun shot.

The photographer and I talked turkey, so I just need to email him a list of rates of my prices for various projects. Ideally, the photographer wants to include my price into his own when he is doing projects.

I'm not certain if this necessarily is a good idea, but I figure it never hurts to get my feet wet and see what happens. If I can get shots from it that I can use to build a portfolio and make some extra cash cool, and if I feel like I'm doing more than what I am making then I can bring it up and go from there.

I want to do one more photoshoot for sure, with another model and another two different looks, so that I can put in my app for Model Mayhem!
