Synthetik Zero Cosmetics

I have a fetish for mineral eyeshadows, so when I heard of SynthetikZero from one of the lovely fellow YouTubers, I decided I needed to check them out. Reason being is of course, I love mineral shadows...but in particular bright/neon colors always catch my attention (and are always something I want to review as I notice neons are hard to get right in mineral form).

Thus I checked out the website, and emailed the owner Kinzi, to see what type of mini package deal I could get (in regards to samples of her shadows..as I noted at the time, not all her shadows were available on the website). After a little back and forth, Kinzi was kind enough to make me a special deal. Where I was able to purchase samples of all shadows she offered (which is total of 10 shadows) for $5.00 (which breaks down to $.50 a piece) and $3.00 shipping and handling fee. Overall paying $8.00 for the samples, which to me is a pretty good deal. I placed my order on 7/14 and received my package on 7/27.

Let's get into some swatches of the products!!!

*denotes official description from website/store website
Also please note that the swatches are in order of applied WET and then DRY. Also the DRY swatch is applied on top of High Voltage Cosmetics Eye Base in Skin Tone. These were applied to the skin using Sigma E-55 (Eye Shader Brush), when applied WET ELF Studio Makeup Mist and Set was used.

Tropical is an aqua blue/turquoise with blue shimmer. When applied wet it is a darker aqua and the shimmer appears to be more silver than blue (which is noticeable in the flash picture).

Underwater is a royal blue with blue shimmer. When applied wet it takes on more of a neon blue color and appears to be matte. Do notice though when applied dry the color itself is a bit spotchy (and the dry swatched required 3 times of going over to get it to swatch properly).
*Underwater- Beautiful deep indigo blue mineral pigment eyeshadow with bursts of purple glitter

*Neon Cupcake Super bright hot pink mineral eyeshadow pigment with bursts of iridescent glitter! It doesn't get any louder than this! This color glows ultra bright in UV light

Sour Apple is a lime green with gold shimmer. When applied wet it takes on more of a frosty lime color. I would like to note this pigment was the easiest to swatch out of the neon/bright shadows.

Deep Space is like a matte black with pink shimmers. When applied wet you can see the pink shimmers more.

Overall, I'm intrigued by Synthetik Zero Cosmetics. I'm hoping to give myself some time to play in the colors and come up with a FOTD (perhaps usable for a tutorial on the YT channel). Once, I have given these shadows a good testing..I will have an official review up.

Until then I suggest learning more about them.!!

High Voltage Cosmetics Mystery Collection & Swatches

I got these shadows a while back, however I never got around to posting the swatches and first thoughts about them.

Sadly these particular shadows offered by the lovely Jasmine at High Voltage aren't listed anymore on the website (as they were a special collection). The Mystery Collection was actually leftovers from little creations that Jasmine had. Whether it was trying to come up with a new color for a collection, or merely accidently mixing a little of one color with a little of another.

What made the Mystery Collection unique is the fact that these colors won't really be able to be reproduced, so if it caught my fancy...I purchased it.

**I want to note that I love the fact High Voltage offers sample baggies at a very affordable price $1.00 a baggie and shipping is always fair. **

I placed my order for this small selection of Mystery Shadows shortly before Christmas, in which it was a total of $9 overall. I picked out 9 different Mystery colors and had FREE shipping!!! It was shipped out on December 22nd and arrived Jan 3rd 2011...which I think is pretty good time frame (considering how often our post office on base was closed for the holidays).

To add just an extra touch Jasmine included a note, which just shows me how much thought, time and effort she puts into her customer service and customers!!! This is why I always keep going back for more!!!

My cute note from Jasmine

Additional Goodies for my ordering from High Voltage
Yay for more SAMPLES!!!

**With every order you place with High Voltage you do get samples**

On to the Make up PORN...I mean swatches!!!

*All products are swatched over ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer. If the shadow is swatched Wet it is using MAC fix +
For all swatches (if the proper link for photobucket doesn't work right, the Dry swatch is on top the wet swatch is on bottom)

Mystery Shadow #6
Teal with blue shimmer

While dry this color seems to have more of an aqua green color. While wet it is a gorgeous teal blue and you can see all the shimmer!!

Suggestion of what to do with this color: #6 would make a beautiful lid color, lower lash liner to make the eyes pop. Or turned into an eyeliner to make a look even more exciting!!!

Mystery Shadow #17
Sky blue with a hint of lilac

This color dry seems to have an duo chrome effect going from a light blue to a soft purple. While wet this color has more of an aqua light blue, reminding me of a satin based shadow.

Suggestion of what to do with this color: #17 would make a pretty lid color as well as a fun nail polish to wear during the early spring.

Mystery Shadow #29
Green/Olive with black undertones

While this shadow is dry is has more of a golden green with copper and gold shimmer. However when it is applied wet it has more of an olive green (darker) and you can see the gold shimmer spread throughout it (this would also pop more on a dark base).
*This reminds me of MAC's Golden Olive Pigment (I think I will have to do a swatch comparison later on).

Suggestion of what to do with this color: #29 would make a beautiful eye liner or lid color.

Mystery Shadow #28
Darkened Bronzy Gold

*It reminded me of mixing the two Euro coin colors together..hence why they are pictured between the swatches!!!

This color dry appears to be a darker gold and you can see the gold reflects in it. However if it is applied wet is takes on a lighter gold coloring.

Suggestion of what to do with this color: #28 would make a great lid color (especially if you were going for a smokey golden look). Plus it would make a great eye brightener (popping it in the inner corner or lower lash line). Also think this would be a pretty liner!

Mystery Shadow #36
Golden Green with Green Shimmers

This color is pretty similiar to #29 when swatched dry. However when it is applied wet you can see there are no dark undertones as in #29. You see gold and green shimmer all throughout the shadow.

Suggestion of what to do with this color: #36 again this particular green would be a great lid color, or even blended into the crease to give a great smokey effect.

Mystery Shadow #31
Darkened Maroon/Purple with black undertones

When this color is dry (which you can't really see in the picture) it has blue and purple shimmer all throughout the swatch. When this is applied wet it's quite pretty and you can see the dark undertones (next time need to swatch it over a dark base and see how it looks).

Suggestion of what to do with this color: #31 would be an ideal crease color to use for a smokey eye or lid color (if you did a reverse smokey eye). Could also substitute this as a liner on either the top or lower lash line.

Mystery Shadow #33
Dusty Pink/Purple with golden shimmers

This color dry reminds me a bit of MAC Star Violet, because the golden shimmers throughout the shadow. However you notice the shimmers more when you apply this color wet, to which the color takes on more of a darker burgundy (mauve).

Suggestion of what to do with this color: #33 would make a pretty lid color and crease color, pending on what it is paired up with.

Mystery Shadow #32
*Will be uploading picture tomorrow

Sea Green with Silver Shimmer

When this color is dry and blended out it has more of a sea green color, reminding me of the Pacific Ocean. When this color is applied wet it becomes a beautiful teal blue/green.

*This reminds me of Island Chic by Glamour Doll Eyes

Suggestion of what to do with this color: #32 would be a great liner or lid color. Possibly even a fun nail polish color to rock during the summer time.

Mystery Shadow #27
*Will be uploading a picture tomorrow

Dark Plummy Purple with hint of shimmer

This color dry isn't nearly as pretty as when it is wet, however you can see the shimmers have a pink color. When applied wet the color is a bit darker (than when dry) and you can see the undertone of pink alot better. The shadow has a slight satin feel which makes it very easy to blend or apply.

Suggestion of what to do with this color:# 27 would be a great crease color or a pretty liner (especially for green eyed gals/guys).

Overall, I really like the colors I chose to start off with from this Mystery Collection. Apparently when I placed the order I had a thing for metallic colors, as many have that look (especially when applied wet).

I will attempt to do a FOTD sometime soon using some of these colors!!!

Drama Mamazz Mineral Make Up

I recently reviewed this mineral make up company on a formal video on my YouTube channel.

However I wanted to do just a few extra notes on my blog as to explain how I give overall rating to the Drama Mamazz Mineral line a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

I break down all my reviews into different sections: Customer Service & If there are any issues how are they handled, Price Compared to Amount of Product, Shipping & Handling Prices for Products, Pros to the product(s), Cons to the product(s).

Now some of the sections might seem like they below within the same category, but I keep them different so that they can make up the FIVE star ratings. And two, although a company or product can do well in one section (let's say price compared to amount of product) they could do poor in another (Shipping and Handling Prices for prodBolducts).

Customer Service
DramaMamazz got a point in this section because of how quick they were to inform me of a problem they had with my order (ie ran out of an item). They informed me, offered me other choices, and followed up quickly after I sent in my change in order.
Plus they informed me when the items were shipped, which was within 3 days after placing my order and paying for my order. Overall the items took a total of 7 business days to arrive to my post office Box in Germany.
Point +1
Price Compared to Amount of Product(s)
Currently DramaMamazz are offering 5 gram jars of shadows for $5.00 which equals out to $1.00 a gram, which isn't necessarily a bad price for shadows. However when I placed my order back in June 2010, I was able to purchase sample sizes of the products. I paid $1.00 for a sample baggie of product (which was anywhere fro 1/8 to 1/4 tsp of product...which has lasted me quite sometime). That sadly is not an option now (unless you email DramaMamazz and find out).
Also at the time I placed my order they offered small inexpensive jewelry which is now no longer available, I think it was nice. To get my fix of make up and find cute cheap accessories (cause you never know when you can tie in your make up and jewelry together to make a cute look).
Point +.5

Shipping and Handling of Product(s)
Currently DramaMamazz offers $2.00 intial shipping and handling fee with additional items being $.50 a piece added to the overall shipping price. Which relatively isn't that bad (considering you are getting a 5 gram jar of product). Keep in mind this pricing goes for international or stateside first class mail shipping.
However when I purchased my items in 2010, I was charged $5.00 Shipping and Handling fee when I only purchased over 10 items (8 shadow sample baggies and 2 rings..thus my order before s&h was $10). So you can imagine I was slightly dismayed at the fact I was paying half of my order in shipping and handling fees. Plus considering the items were very light weight and were shipped off in first class padded mail envelope, I did feel like it was very high.
Point +.5

Pros to Products:
Pigmented
Easy to apply and Easy to blend
Good selection of color choices and types of shadows (ie mattes, shimmer, shimmer with glitter)
Little bit of product goes a long way
Point +1

Cons to Products:
Has lots of fallout (especially Shimmer with glitter shadows)
Requires a higher quality primer to keep shadows from creasing
Colors I purchased were no longer available on the site (only 14 overall colors available at the time)
Needs a sticky base Or products foiled to keep products from wearing off
Shadows that were Shimmer with glitter swatched/blended streaky (nude spots)
Point +.5

Overall Score: 3.5 out of 5

FOTD: Glamour Doll Eyes 80's Child

I actually did this look a few weekends ago (ie Halloween weekend) but with this week of my mini vacation. I got pretty lazy when it came to blogging, so I figured it was time to get cracking down on some of these Glamour Doll Eyes looks I have been hording! he he

I received my 80's Child Collection the week prior to Halloween and decided that it was time to play with the colors. Now, if you haven't checked out the 80's Child Collection from Glamour Doll Eyes, you are missing out on some amazing SHIMMER FILLED COLORED FUN! And considering that I was a child of the 80's (and these shadows are based off of some of mt favorite shows as a child. I had to get them for my birthday.)

I felt pretty feminine that day, I actually decided on my shirt and accessories before I did my make up (normally it's vice versa). So keeping the pink in mind and wanting to use the 80's Child Collection shadows I came up with this kinda fun and super easy look.

Not really certain what to call it, I asked Joe and he was at a lost! that NEVER happens! he he

Products used for this FOTD:
MAC Paint Pot in Soft Orche
MAC Fix + (to wet the shadows & make liner)
Glamour Doll Eyes 80's Child Shadow in Romper (all over lid)
Glamour Doll Eyes 80's Child Shadow in Berrywood (in crease)
Glamour Doll Eyes 80's Child Shadow in Shimmer (as highlight & inner tear duct)
Glamour Doll Eyes 80's Child Shadow in Vanity (as liner for top & Lower lash lines)
MAC Eye Kohl in Fascinating
Lancome Deficiles Mascara in Black
Photobucket

Going to post some pictures of the Eyes in particular, since it's all about the eyes in this look anyways! I know with such a bright liner, one would opt for false lashes. However I think this can be done as an everyday fun look!
Natural Light

I believe that blue shadows look really great with Brown eyes, it just seems to draw attention.
Photobucket
Photobucket
I didn't want to over do wing in this eye, just because then it would REQUIRE lashes in my opinion. So I kept it small (compared to how I normally do colored liner looks).
Photobucket
Photobucket
One thing I love about Glamour Doll Eyes shadows is the fact that they make such great eyeliners! Vanity is beautiful blue with silver sparkles, and when its applied wet it takes a neon blue that just really POPS!

Using Shimmer as a highlight and eye brightener in the inner tear duct (in my opinon) finishes off this look. It adds just enough shimmer and glitter to the eye, plus with its multi colored sparkles (yellow, red, blue, purple, pink) it was just perfect!

**For the rest of the face I paired it off with some light pink cheeks using my NYX Blush in Pinky and for lips I decided on a recent newest go to, NYX Lip Liner in Fuchsia topped off with Glamour Gloss in Scene Queen**

Overall, I really liked the combination of these shadows together! I hope to give myself some more time sometime soon and come up with another fun 80's Child FOTD!!
